Minot Regional Lego Robotics Tournament at Swain Hall

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University’s Swain Hall pedagogy lab will be the site for the 2022 Minot Regional Lego Robotics Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The tournament will be held at the second-floor gym Saturday, Jan. 15 from 1-3 p.m. with the public invited to watch free of admission.

Teams will run their robots for a chance to compete at the North Dakota State competition in February. The teams are judged on how well they can work as a team along with coding and construction.

The national FIRST FORWARD season is presented by Qualcomm along with Amazon, The Boeing Company, Lego Education, and Raytheon Technologies.

The Minot event, sponsored by Minot’s Full STEAM Ahead, was held virtually last year due to COVID-19 precautions.

“We are excited for our sixth annual Lego Regional Robotics tournament to be hosted right here in the Magic City,” said Allison Auch, executive director for Full STEAM Ahead. “It is an honor to work alongside faculty from Minot State University to bring this tournament to our community for our youth. Come on out and see some robots in action from 1-3 p.m. at Swain Hall.”

Minot runs First Lego League Challenge events for children ages 10-14 throughout the school year. The MSU event is one of five qualifying events in North Dakota with the North Dakota State Tournament held at the University of North Dakota’s Student Union Feb. 12.
