Volunteer Position Duties:
Patient Care - Volunteers assist our patients and their families. Volunteers provide companionship to patients, which may include reading, visiting and other one-on-one activities, and help with errands or light housekeeping.
Respite Care - Volunteers relieve caregivers for short periods of time so they may take a break.
Pathway - Volunteers are present at the bedside of a hospice patient who is actively dying.
Courier - Volunteers pick up and deliver supplies and medications to hospice patients.
Office - Volunteers greet visitors and assist with filing, data entry, mailings and other clerical duties.
Special Events - Volunteers assist at fundraising events and host booths at health and wellness fairs.
Celebration Bears - Volunteers sew bears made from a hospice patient’s clothing for the family or loved ones as a keepsake to celebrate the patient’s memory.
Special roles: Do you have a special talent or skill? We are always looking for individuals with special skills, such as hairstylists, pet therapists and massage therapists, to provide additional comfort and care to our patients.
Position Requirements: If you’re interested in volunteering with Hospice of the Red River Valley, the first step is to submit an application at https://www.hrrv.org/volunteer/apply. Once your application is received, a volunteer coordinator will contact you to discuss your interests, goals, history, availability, position requirements, and more, as well as answer any questions you might have.
Volunteers are carefully screened through the completion of a background check, tuberculosis blood test and personal reference check. We provide training to all volunteers to help ensure you feel prepared for your role and confident in your skills.
There is no minimum amount of time you must agree to volunteer each week, month or year; however, we ask for a six-month commitment if at all possible.
Other Information: Volunteers provide critical support for our day-to-day work while changing lives and truly making a difference in their communities. Whether spending time with patients, sewing bears or giving a hair cut, volunteers are an essential part of the Hospice team. We have more than 400 devoted volunteers of all ages and backgrounds throughout our service area. They all have one thing in common: a desire to help others and give back.

Magic City Blessing Bank is a program that provides free personal care items to people in the Minot community, packing roughly 90-120 bags a week.
Volunteer Position Description: Volunteering for Magic City Blessing Bank should be pretty easy. We would provide a spreadsheet of the orders, and the person packing would just need to follow along with the list and fill the bag with the listed items. We usually recommend 3-5 volunteers, and it takes roughly an hour. (Currently, because of the nature of the order timeline, we are only able to pack on Mondays between 9-2, or if that doesn’t work, we could try to accommodate a Friday packing.)

Agency Description: Trinity Homes is a 161 bed skilled nursing facility. Our residents need various levels of nursing care. Some are fairly independent, and some require assistance with everything from eating and drinking to bathing and transferring in and out of bed. We have had residents from the age of 18 years old to 107.
Volunteer Position Duties: Most of our volunteer positions are assisting with daily activities from crafts, Bingo, 1:1 visits, music, reading, reminiscing, exercises, taking the residents outdoors, to the zoo, to the fair, fishing, the local parks, drives to look at Christmas lights, etc. Volunteers have also entertained our residents by providing singing, playing instruments, Christmas caroling, dancing, bringing in pets for pet visits, and also assisting to residents to therapies, and to the beauty shop if needed.
Position Requirements: Depends on if you are volunteering to "work" with the residents on a regular basis or to "entertain" the residents with your talent. This would be discussed and decided with each interested volunteer.
Other Information: Since Covid, all of our volunteers have been entertaining the residents. We have not had any volunteers that have worked 1:1 with the residents since Covid, but are able to have them now.

Volunteer Position Duties: Hospice volunteers are a very important part of the hospice experience. Volunteers can offer an increased quality of life to patients and families through their emotional support and companionship. They can provide a wide range of services to patients and families, from respite care for family members to writing letters or offering a listening ear. As a hospice volunteer you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do.
If you're a good listener, have a spirit of compassion toward those who are at end-of-life and have a little extra time, then hospice volunteering is right for you.
