Dr. Mariah Taller serves as Instructor of Percussion at Minot State University where she teaches percussion lessons, percussion ensemble, and percussion methods. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from Texas Tech University where she studied primarily with Lisa Rogers. Her previous teachers include Michael Mixtacki, Brad Meyer, Ming-Hui Kuo, and Bonnie Whiting.

Dr. Taller has performed with renowned groups such as the DePauw University Symphony Orchestra, Stephen F. Austin State University Wind Ensemble, Texas Tech University Wind Ensemble, Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and Texas Tech University Steel Band, “Apocalypso Now.” In her career, Dr. Taller has performed at events namely the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Indianapolis Prize Gala, College Band Directors National Association Conference, and Texas Music Educators Association Conference. She has also performed internationally on tours in Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Spain, and Mexico.

Dr. Taller has presented research at multiple conferences including Stephen F. Austin State University Graduate Research Conference and the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy. Her research interests focus on four-mallet pedagogy and women in percussion.

Taller is principal percussionist for the Minot Symphony Orchestra and Vice President of the Percussive Arts Society, North Dakota Chapter. She is a member of honor socieiies Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Lambda.
